At Prairieaction Foundation we believe that results-oriented research can reduce or eliminate violence and abuse in our communities by telling us how effective laws and policies, well-designed programs and well-resourced community responses can make a difference in the lives of families and our communities every day. We do this by granting funds to support:
-
RESOLVE Research Network (Research and Education for Solutions to Violence and Abuse);
-
CARE Grant Program (Community Action, Research & Education); and
-
Education and Awareness Grant Program.
1) RESOLVE
Since 1998, the Foundation has provided $1.4 million in funding to RESOLVE, a tri-provincial Prairie research network on violence and abuse. Our annual grant to RESOLVE supports their ongoing infrastructure costs. For every dollar that Prairieaction Foundation has donated, RESOLVE has generated six dollars in outside grants; money that has supported more than 100 RESOLVE research projects aimed at reducing violence.
RESOLVE offices, located at the Universities of Calgary, Manitoba and Regina, bring academics and front-line workers together to collaborate on research projects that are relevant, community-based and produce useful results.
We encourage you to learn more about RESOLVE by visiting their website at http://www.umanitoba.ca/resolve.
2) CARE Grant Program
The CARE Grant Program furthers our goal to support community-based research into solutions to violence and abuse. The Program funds grassroots, community-based organizations to do action-oriented research that will improve their programs and identify effective strategies to alleviate and prevent violence and abuse in their communities.
